New LED bulb raises lighting standards
30 June 2011
Switch Lighting recently launched an LED bulb that is equivalent to a 100w incandescent light bulb.
Current LED lighting is able to match the lower levels of incandescent bulbs; however, for communal lighting areas and areas with lots of workspace, a higher level of lighting is often needed.
The A19 lamp uses the company's City of Light technology, which creates a self-cooling environment inside to create a brighter output with fewer LEDs.
Boris Lipkin, CEO of Switch Lighting, says: 'The brightest LED you can see on the shelf at present is the 60w equivalent. However we have bettered this twice: firstly with our 75w, and now with our new 100w equivalent LED bulb.
In order to comply with a more focused attitude to environmental issues, especially when it comes to disposal of bulbs and LED lighting, the components on the new A19 bulb can be reused, recycled or reclaimed for use in other products.
